Churachandpur District Congress Committee on Friday stated that the Pherzawl district was created in 2016 by the Congress government without any bloodshed to bring development to all the people of the four subdivisions of Pherzawl, Thanton, Parbung and Vangai.
In a release, general secretary of the Committee Richard Lalsawrlien stated that the creation of the district was not based on communal lines or petty politics.
On the 5th anniversary of the historic day, the Congress party remains committed to the same principle on which the district was created, bringing development to all the people of the district without favoring a particular tribe or community, he stated.
“It has come to our knowledge that some vested parties and individuals are keen on breaking up Pherzawl district by trying to re-amalgamate Thanlon Sub Division to Churachandpur district. We found it as shocking and unwarranted as there can be no logical justification in their actions except to divide the people and the district on communal lines,” he mentioned.
The committee wants to know from the state government whether it has started accepting the creation of administrative units based on communal lines, he questioned.
He further stated that the Congress party will not accept communal politics that can create more conflicts and unnecessarily create a sense of uneasiness among the people of this beautiful region. Any designs to divide people and districts based on communal lines will do more harm than good for the state in the long run, he added.
