The CCIAN Forum Peace Committee on Thursday asserted that peace will never prevail in Manipur until the Kuki militants have been fully restrained, while condemning their endless provocation and terrorising the people in the peripheral areas.
The same was stated by convenor of CCIAN Forum Peace Committee, Angomcha Chingkhei during the distribution of relief items to the weary people of Pombikhok village under Kumbi constituency in Bishnupur district. The activity was carried out in continuance of the forum’s act of lending support and assistance to the affected victims of the prevailing conflict since May 15.
Chingkhei said that the forum received reports of Kuki militants allegedly provoking the locals of the village constantly, raising apprehensions among the weary villagers. The kuki militants using loudspeakers are repeatedly hurling insults, death threats to the village, he accused and condemned such provocative actions. He further lauded the bravery and courage of the locals for standing their ground to defend the village.
He further urged the centre and state government to make necessary efforts to resolve the issue and restore peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest. Members of the forum also took part in the visit to Pombikhok village.
