PDS rice distribution under NFSA stopped for three months in Moreh

The All Community Leaders in Moreh have decided to keep strict vigil on the public distribution system and appeal to all to avoid hoarding of PDS rice.

It has been three months now since supply of PDS rice under NFSA meant for Moreh area ceased to reach the people and it has led to much difficulty to beneficiary card holders, CSOs in Moreh on Saturday stated.

A joint release issued by Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, Tamil Sangam, Meitei Council Moreh, Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh, and Gorkha Samaj Sewa Samiti appealed to the authority concerned to sort out any discrepancy that might have arisen so that people avail what is entitled to them.

The ‘All Community Leaders’ on its part shall from now on keep strict vigil on the public distribution system and appeal to all to avoid hoarding of PDS rice once and for all and to stop clandestine selling of PDS rice to the neighbouring Myanmar, it stated.

It further appealed to the PDS department and all agents to make sure and prevent such discrepancies and problems do not occur in future.

It mentioned that the monthly distribution of Rice under National Food Security Act at a cheap, affordable rate to the poorer section of people is a generous venture by the Government which deserves high esteem as it has brought about great relief to the poorer section of the society.
