An accident patient died on Thursday allegedly due to non-availability of doctors at PHC Noney even as villagers lament the lack of emergency service in the district, especially when doctors across the state are on strike.

According to the source, the victim, identified as KP Dimduanliu (48), wife of Gaikhanghoi Rouangmei of Khumji-3, fell from a truck on Thursday morning near St Joseph Catholic Church, Khumji-3, which is under the jurisdiction of Noney Police Station, Noney district.

The unfortunate incident occurred when they were proceeding to a marriage program at Gairihlong Village Longrang (Nungang).

The victim succumbed to injuries on the way to Imphal for emergency treatment as there were no doctors at the PHC Noney, allegedly due to ongoing strike of the doctors.

The villagers also lamented the lack of emergency service at Noney PHC and the district's shortage of doctors. A daily wage earner, she is survived by two daughters and three sons.
