The Manipur Peoples’ Party (MPP) on Sunday extended solidarity in connection with the gun attack at the residence of its terminated central committee member Saratkumar Maimom at Uripok, Imphal on Friday night and clarified that the attack was not carried out by MPP.

In the wake of the gun attack, Saratkumar Maimom had given false allegations to the party which could tarnish the party’s image, said MPP president Ch Shamjai while speaking to the media at MPP office in Imphal.

It is unfortunate that Saratkumar had given three different statements regarding the attack, he said, alleging that Saratkumar claimed that the attack was carried out by unknown persons, then by a UG group and later by MPP.

The president also alleged that Saratkumar is using a WhatsApp group in the name of MPP using derogatory statements to tarnish the image of the party.
