Chief postmaster general, North East Postal Circle Mariamma Thomas along with 11 persons called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday and highlighted the uninterrupted services rendered by the postal department during the ongoing impasse in Manipur that began on May 3, 2023.
They further discussed the challenges faced in transportation and delivering of parcels/mails in sensitive areas, it stated. The team informed delivery of parcels in sensitive areas is done with the assistance of the Assam Rifles and Central forces, it mentioned. They also mentioned their activities mainly banking services for the people taking refuge in relief camps in the state, it added.
It mentioned that the governor assured assistance from her office for the smooth functioning of the postal services and encouraged them to continue their dedicated services in the interest of the people.
Akhil Bharatiya Sangathan Mantri BR Shankaranand along with four Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM), Manipur Prant also called on Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday evening and briefed on their activities in the field of education mainly on the research and intellectuals aspects, it further stated.
It stated that the team also mentioned their initiatives in the implementation of National Education Policy. They further informed her on their continuous services for the students and children in relief camps in the field of education, it stated.
She encouraged the team to reach out to the students in relief camps so as to ensure all these children are not deprived of their educational rights, it added.
