As tension gripped Manipur and curfew is imposed in view of the prevailing law and order situation in several parts of the state, inclding Imphal, Tamenglong district headquarters witnessed incidents of panic buying, which reportedly began since Thursday evening.

Following the hoarding of essential commodities by some people, all shops in the district headquarters have run out of rice, as per sources.
Amid reports of single families purchasing four to five bags of superfine and permal rice, many have raised concerns that purchasing in bulk will cause acute shortages for poor families and daily wagers.
