Palliative Care Society Imphal awarded D K Gogoi Memorial Award

D K Gogoi Memorial Award is specifically given for exemplary work done for home visits, palliative care in the region.

Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Trust Dibrugarh honoured Palliative Care Society Imphal (PCSI) with the prestigious D K Gogoi Memorial Award 2023 by handing over the citation, memento and certificate with a shawl during a solemn function held at the auditorium of District Library Dibrugarh on December 3.

The award was received by Dr N Subodha, Secretary, PCSI and Dr S Jugindra, vice president, PCSI.

The award is specifically given for exemplary work done for home visits, palliative care in the region. The relentless palliative home care given by PCSI even during troubled times was much appreciated by the host Dr Gayatri Gogoi of Pratishruti Cancer and Palliative Care Trust Dibrugarh.

At the function Dr N Subodha, after receiving the award thanked Pratishruti profusely and also lauded the yeoman service provided by its volunteers in and around Dibrugarh.

After its inception on April 16, 2015 PCSI has been rendering home care services in Imphal through thick and thin. PCSI in collaboration with Institute of Palliative Care (IPM) Kozhikode and National Health Mission program Manipur Health Department has been instrumental in training state health department doctors and nurses and volunteers to start home visit based palliative care in several districts of Manipur.

Palliative care is wholesome care of chronically ill patients where volunteers attempt to ease physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues of not only the patients but also their family members.
