The All Manipur Meitei Defence Committee of India (AMMDC) on Wednesday asserted that other communities in the state should be at the forefront in taking intermediary roles and extend aid in resolving the issue.

“During the Naga-Kuki, Paite-Kuki and other communal clashes, the Meiteis had reached out both in relief and crisis resolution measures. Therefore, it is only reasonable for other communities to involve themselves in resolving the issue instead of suffering as silent victims,” AMMDC stated.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, AMMDC president Sagolshem Kula Mangang demanded authorities concerned to mete befitting legal actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs for their outrageous demand which infringed on the territorial integrity of Manipur.

He also appealed to the Central and state governments to set up a separate Meitei Regiment in the country’s extensive military divisions.

The MLAs should face befitting legal repercussions for their infringing demand which attempts to sever the diverse identity of Manipur, he added.

He also alleged that the ITLF was the main culprit behind the different atrocities which had taken place in Manipur since May 3 and condemned their actions in the crisis.

He urged everyone to stay aware and be prepared to resist any trickery and ploy to destroy the state.
He maintained that the authorities concerned should strive to protect the state’s territorial integrity at all costs and demanded that they scrap six scheduled from Manipur.

“The separate land reforms in hills and valleys should be reviewed and NRC should be implemented; such divisive policies have exhorted the shattering of Manipur’s integrity and it is time for a new land reform which allows every citizen of Manipur equal access to all lands in the state,” he said.
