Ten like-minded political parties in Manipur on Thursday criticised the Biren-led government in Manipur for pointing fingers at the then government for the unrest and focusing on other projects instead of working on to restore peace in Manipur.

Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, president of Shiv Sena (UBT), Manipur T Debananda, on behalf of the parties, said that Chief Minister N Biren Singh, being a leader of the then Congress government before joining BJP and becoming the chief minister, implies that he is a part of the then government.

So, blaming the government for the ongoing unrest is the same as blaming himself, he said, adding after all the BJP government has ruled the state for over seven years before the unrest.

CPI(M) secretary Ksh Santa recalled the recent statement of CM Biren wherein he announced to put the blame on the public who are defending the state’s integrity, if AFSPA is reimposed in Manipur.

Putting the blame on CM Biren, his cabinet colleague and the bureaucrats for the prevailing unrest which is worsening, he said, had they maintained the law and order without negligence, Manipur would not have faced such unrest.
