Meitei Leisha Kanba Apunba Lup (MLKL) considers the present crisis as an aggression unleashed by Kuki-Chin immigrants sponsored by drug cartels on Meitei, in particular, and on the indigenous people of Manipur in general, MLKL convenor Soraisam Surendra Chenglei said on Friday.

He also called on the 50 MLAs to clarify their stand within two days or their failure to do so will be taken as a part of the aggression, he added.

Addressing the press at its head office located at Mongsangei, Chenglei said the outbreak of the Kuki-Chin Aggression on May 3 was a planned manoeuvre and is in great progress as per the plan of the aggressors. Failure on the part of the state and central government to contain the aggression is leading the state into a civil war, he added.

He also stated that after the 7 years of devastation, the Kuki-Chin aggression has caused similar devastation in the state.

He said the supporters of the ongoing crisis are not indigenous people of Manipur as they immigrated from Myanmar and Bangladesh. Their demand for ‘separate administration’ not only affects the territorial integrity and boundary of Manipur but also the national security, he added.

Stating that as many as 65 companies of RAF and 16 columns of army besides the state police are reportedly deployed in the most sensitive and vulnerable places, Chenglei said the irony is that they have failed to protect lives and properties. The policy of the Security Advisor, Kuldiep Singh, is now a grand fiasco and he needs to be removed and replaced by state forces, he stated.

The convener said Manipur can be saved only when SoO is withdrawn and all Kuki-Chin militants are either arrested or driven back to where they belong. If the militants are protected by SoO there will be no end to the crisis, he said.

MLKL is more surprised to see how Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent without uttering a single word to defuse the situation, Chenglei said and questioned how the PM could be so unconcerned when a proxy war is being declared on one of the states of India.

He also said that the demands of the 10 MLAs for a ‘separate administration’ inside Manipur is impossible and will remain their dreams.

However, the remaining 50 MLAs should clarify their stand within two days and failure to do so will be taken as a support to the Kuki-Chin aggression, he added.

He said all Kuki leaders are directly involved in this aggression and they are war criminals and must be dealt with strongly. They must be punished on the basis of the Geneva Convention, he said.

Chenglei further said that all the lands must be restored to the owners and compensation for the loss of lives and properties must be paid. Nobody has the right to snatch away others lands, he added.
