Those who know how to criticise should also learn to appreciate or motivate others, especially when an individual makes contributions towards society, said speaker Y Khemchand on Sunday

He was speaking at the observation of 30th State Level Nupi Lal Ningshing Thouram, 2021, during which a ‘Nupi Lal Ningshing Meetam’ was inaugurated in front of Singjamei Super Market, at Singjamei, Imphal West on Sunday.

The observation was organised by State Level Nupi Lal Ningshing Lamjel, Singjamei, Imphal.

He said there are all types of people who have a positive or negative mindset in a society. Being a ‘Speaker’ in Manipur Legislative Assembly he is neither in the treasury nor in the opposition bench.

However, he has been bringing some developmental works for the welfare of the people as an MLA of Singjamei assembly constituency, he added. The people in this assembly constituency have both positive and negative types, he remarked.  

The negative ones who know how to criticise should also learn to encourage or appreciate when some progress is brought in the assembly constituency, he maintained.

When Nupi Lal took place, many women from Singjamei also took part in the war. In commemoration of the martyred women, he constructed a Nupi Lal statue in front of Singjamei Super Market, he added.

As a part of the occasion, floral tributes were paid to the martyrs during Nupi Lal. Later, speaker Y Khemchand who is also local MLA inaugurated the ‘Nupi Lal Ningshing Meetam’ and unveiled the statue of Nupi Lal.

President of State Level Nupi Lal Ningshing Lamjel S Medini Devi and social activist Gangmei Sana Kabui also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
