NYK Thoubal holds declamation contest, awareness programmes

The SVEEP Awareness programme on ‘Ethical and Informed Voting’ was followed by a Water-Talk (Jalsampad) on ‘Rainwater Harvesting- Catch The Rain’ Campaign, along with declamation contest on ‘Patriotism and National Building’.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Waikhom Mani Girls College and District Election Programme on Saturday organised a District Level Declamation Contest followed by a SVEEP programme along with a Jalsampad on rainwater harvesting.

The SVEEP Awareness programme on ‘Ethical and Informed Voting’ was followed by a Water-Talk (Jalsampad) on ‘Rainwater Harvesting- Catch The Rain’ Campaign, along with declamation contest on ‘Patriotism and National Building’ themed “Sabka saath Sabka vikas, Sabka vishwas Sabka prayas” (Together we grow Together we prosper, Together we try Together we build a strong and inclusive India). The events were organised as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav celebrations at Waikhom Mani Girls College.

The first session commenced with a welcome address by DACYP member, NYK Thoubal K Lokendro Singh, followed by SVEEP awareness cum t-shirt distribution to the first time voter of Waikhom Mani Girls College along with a speech on the importance of free and fair election and the proper practice of the Right to Vote, by SDO Thoubal Ranjita Mayengbam.

The session was attended by SDO Thoubal and ERO of Wangkhem assembly constituency and Khangabok assembly constituency Ranjita Mayengbam, and district youth officer NYK Thoubal and SVEEP nodal officer Thoubal Michael Thangminlien Mate as the guests of honour, along with principal of Waikhom Mani Girls College Th Manao Singh as the president of the programme.

Associate professor, department of Geography, Thoubal College Kh Jugindro Singh, gave an important Water-Talk (Jalsampad) on Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation ‘Catch the rain where it falls when it falls’.

The second session commenced with the declamation contest with 11 participants, who were shortlisted from block level declamation competitions held at different parts of Thoubal and Kakching in November. Khagembam Dayapati Devi scored the first prize and was shortlisted for State level competition, to be held shortly in December.

After the prize and certificate distribution for the winners and participants, the programme concluded with vote of thanks by Michael T Mate.
