Neighbourhood youth parliament at the district level for Kakching district was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal, NSS Units of Kakching Khunou College (KKC) and KKC IQAC Cell at Sivananda Memorial Hall of KKC.
The event was organised with the aim to encourage engagement of the youth as well as an awareness programme on India’s G20 presidency. During the event phase III of the Catch the Rain project was also organised. The event was attended by Kakching municipal council former councillor Kh Radhamani Devi as the chief guest, KKC principal P Memcha Devi as the president and NYK Thoubal district youth officer Michael Thangminlien Mate as the guest of honour.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the inaugural lamp by the dignitaries followed by the talks by the resource persons and the dignitaries who spoke on various topics including the G20 and Y20 Summit and the salient features of the 'Catch the Rain where it falls when it falls’ campaign.
Later, the president of the program P Memcha Devi led the youths in a ‘Water Pledge’ and officially launched the Catch the Rain project. The program concluded with ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’ a cultural programme showcasing the unique culture of the district and the rich heritage of the country.
