'Nursing needs rigorous hard work, compassion and dedication to serve patient with humanity'

A graduation and convocation ceremony for Bachelor of Science and Master of Science students of College of Nursing, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was held at its Jubilee Hall on Wednesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, principal accountant general (A and E) John K Sellate said that the profession of nursing is not an easy job and needs a lot of rigorous hard-work, compassion and dedication in order to serve the patient with a human touch.

It is a matter of pride for the state that many alumni of the institution are working in many reputed health care institutes both in India and abroad. This proves the dedication that will be rendered by the whole staff of the institute, he added.

Extending his gratitude to people who are in the nursing profession, he said that the pandemic shows that healthcare service would be impossible without nurses. They are the real heroes who have to deal with patients directly, he said.

President of the function, director, professor A Shanta Singh said that it is a great moment for the institute to conduct the ceremony. They are putting all efforts to serve the public at best and as a result, RIMS has been enlisted among the top 50 medical institutions of the country for the past three years.

Acknowledging the status of RIMS where it stands today, the union ministry also increased the sanctioned amount for the institute, he added.

He also encouraged graduated students and extended best wishes for their future endeavors.

Other dignitaries who attended the function were controller of Examination, Manipur University, Canchipur, professor Ng Nimai Singh and associate professor, National Institute of Nursing, PGIMER, Chandigarh Dr Manju Dhandapani as guests of honour.
