Locals of Chandel district on Friday protested against NSCN (I-M) kilonser and in-charge of Political Affairs Committee of Chandel assembly constituency D Johny Lamkang for allegedly forcing the Naga people of the assembly constituency to vote for BJP.

When the rally which started from Chandel Panchai reached Chandel DC Lamkhai, the protesters clashed with the police force led by additional SP L Amarjit, after which the rally ended.

Speaking at the event, one woman protester alleged D Johny for forcing and threatening the Naga people of Chandel assembly constituency to vote for the BJP candidate.

Condemning D Johny, she continued that the Naga people want a candidate who will stand for the Naga people. She drew the attention of ECI and the authority concerned in order to conduct free and fair elections. She appealed to the leaders of NSCN/GPRN to remove D Johny from his designation and let the Naga people vote for their desired candidate.

In the rally, protesters shouted slogans such as, ‘we condemned D Johny’, ‘remove him from his designation’, ‘Naga unity cannot be broken’ and ‘we support NPD’.
