The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has put on record regarding Naga minor tribes namely Aimol, Chiru, Chothe, Kharam, Koireng and Kom while expressing concern about the ongoing unrest in Manipur between two communities--Meetei and Kukis.

In a statement by the Ministry of Information and Publicity, National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) on Thursday, it stated that it puts on record that the following Naga minor tribes: Aimol, Chiru, Chothe, Kharam, Koireng and Kom are “part of Naga community and have been actively involved in the Nagas’ political struggle for their freedom from India and Myanmar till our goal is achieved”.

Our Meitei brothers and Kukis should not take them otherwise and harass them in any manner, the NSCN stated, adding that it is a matter of regret that one Kom village, Kangathei village, has come under attack by the Kuki militants and the villagers forced to vacate their Kangathei village.

“Such vicious violence will only aggravate the situation and this must be put to stop forthwith for the sake of humanity and peaceful coexistence,” the NSCN stated.

Kindly consider this with a show of great sagacity and statesman’s foresight, it added.

The NSCN also stated that the ongoing violence between the two communities is something very detestable; the attack against the place of human inhabitants (villages) inhuman; the burning down of places of worship (Churches) a sacrilegious acts committed on religious lines and all acts of violence a violation of human rights that are applicable to all members of human society.
