Manipur National People’s Party (NPP), which is a part of the BJP-led coalition government, is like a ‘parasite’ with the MLAs of the party being like the ‘kingpin’ to create the political issues during the last five years of the Biren-led government, Ch Bijoy, chief spokesperson of the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said.

Ch Bijoy said that a coalition government with ‘3 percent’ NPP party while forming the upcoming new state government will be like having two chief ministers, one from Manipur and another from Meghalaya. Having two chief ministers in a state will only lead to disaster instead of bringing development, said the chief spokesperson.

During the last five years of the BJP-led government, four MLAs of NPP were inducted as cabinet ministers. However, they created issues instead of smoothening the governance. If the people support the NPP during the upcoming election, then the state could face disaster, he said.

Bijoy said the recently formed Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) comprising of six political parties namely Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (Marxist), the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Janata Dal (secular), and All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) along with Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) are formed with 18-points common agenda.

However, they were formed with only one agenda of the Congress party, he added.

Congress claimed that in the last five years, BJP failed to bring any development and welfare of the people. He said if Congress has been sleeping for the last five years, then how can they see the development and welfare brought in the last five years.

Lokayukta Bill which was converted into an Act was enforced in Manipur during the BJP-led government which is one of the biggest in order to find out corruption against any individual, political party or even leader of the state, said Bijoy.

Regarding the election manifesto of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Bijoy said that one of their agenda had already been included in the BJP manifesto in 1995, i.e. the agenda to established Manipur regiment.

Inclusion of such an agenda in the election manifesto of Congress indicated that BJP is 27 years more advanced than the thinking of Congress, said Bijoy.
