The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 43-Phungyar Unit on Wednesday welcomed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board’s decision to support NPF’s official candidate, Kachui Timothy Zimik for the 2-Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat.
NPF 43 Phungyar Unit, Information and publicity wing, in a release, claimed that the 18th Lok Sabha General Elections has brought the two political arch rivals in Manipur under the same roof.
The Saffron party has directed its state unit to extend all possible assistance and rope in the help of regional political parties/satraps like the ruling NNDP in Nagaland and the ruling NPP in Meghalaya to ensure the smooth election of NDA candidate in the 2 Outer Parliamentary polls, it stated.
It also mentioned that the BJP Phungyar Mandal under the leadership of State Vice President, BJP Manipur Pradesh Awungshi Hopingson Shimray; President, NPF 43-Phungyar AC Thotasheng Shanglai; former Vice Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Ukhrul, Issac Mungkung along with party functionaries held a joint coordination meeting at Berean Lodge, Dewlahland, Imphal on Tuesday to devise and chalk out a common poll strategy to ensure the success of their common candidate.
The members present minutely deliberated the current pre-poll scenario and unanimously agreed to form a joint coordination committee consisting of members from both NPF 43- Phungyar AC and BJP Phungyar Mandal and also resolved to jointly fight the coming electoral battles in Manipur, it added.
