NPF condemns naked parade, calls for peace and harmony

Naked Parade: "The NPF/MSU firmly stands for justice and firmly believes that all perpetrators involved in this despicable crime must be brought to justice and subjected to appropriate punishment as prescribed by the prevailing law of the land."

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Manipur State Unit on Friday vehemently condemned the shocking act of disrespect to the modesty of women by parading them naked on May 4.

The incident involved the disgraceful act of parading women naked in broad daylight, which not only obliterated age-old traditions and norms but also demeaned the highest respect that should be accorded to mothers and sisters of the human race, said NPF in a release.

It expressed that such heinous acts of violence against women should be abhorred by all right-thinking citizens, regardless of caste, creed or nation.

The NPF/MSU firmly stands for justice and firmly believes that all perpetrators involved in this despicable crime must be brought to justice and subjected to appropriate punishment as prescribed by the prevailing law of the land, it said.

Such acts, whether during times of peace or conflict, must not be tolerated and the NPF/MSU urges the authorities to ensure that justice is served swiftly, the release maintained.

Furthermore, the release also mourned the tragic loss of late Lucy Marem, daughter of late Thoukhal Marem from Narum Village, who was brutally murdered on July 15 at Keibi Heikakmapal, Imphal East.

The NPF/MSU extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and expresses deep anguish and pain for the loss of precious innocent lives in the state.

In the pursuit of restoring peace and harmony, the NPF/MSU further appealed to all individuals and groups to immediately cease all forms of violence that torment the population of the state.
