Communist Party of India - Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Saturday condemned the conduct of Chief Minister N Biren Singh of allegedly garnering votes amid the tense situation in the state upon his return to Imphal from Delhi and termed it as unethical.
CPI-MSC, in a release, pointed out the untold sufferings of the victims of the conflict asserting that many were forcibly displaced and compelled to seek refuge in the relief camps with no homes to return to, while families of those who were killed in the violence are still grieving over their loss.
It noted that many have been deprived and are struggling for survival. It also highlighted the conditions of the elderly victims whose homes have been completely destroyed and expressed concern for their mental well-being. Incidents of firing and bombings have escalated in the past few days at villages in peripheral areas while national highways still remain blocked, the party stated.
It alleged the CM of being a puppet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has allegedly failed to utter a single word on the prevailing violence and condemned the attempt to win public votes by any means using muscle and money power. It urged the CM to be sensible of the issue and resolve the crisis first.
The CM is aware that the recent crisis in the state is caused by external aggression, it said and lamented the lack of efforts of the Manipur BJP MP, who is also the Union External Affairs minister and the other two BJP MPs, in solving the crisis. It asserted that now is not the time to garner votes and find ways to gain political mileage.
It urged the BJP government in the state to instead make a concrete statement over the prevailing situation to the Union government.
