Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday expressed concerns over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state for Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, stating that Rahul’s visit may repeat the problem the state witnessed during his previous visit.

“The yatra is not Bharat Jodo, it is Bharat Todo for me. Last time when Rahul Gandhi visited, he tore apart Manipur and now when Manipur is slowly getting back to normal, he has come again to tear it apart,” CM Biren said.

He stated the need for caution among the people, recalling the adverse impacts of Rahul Gandhi’s earlier visit.

CM Biren, while speaking on the sidelines of the 8th Armed Forces Veterans Day-2024, said, “This is not the time for politics through organising rallies, especially in a state like Manipur. It is a time for revival and consoling people, not divisive actions.”

CM Biren said that during his last visit there was a problem.

“Manipur is now very careful so as not to cause any problems. And it is not only to him but it is also to others that the government has not given any permission due to law and order situation”, CM Biren said.

“Now, Manipur is returning to normalcy and I have doubts that his rally may cause problems”, the CM said.
