The Kadangband Apunba Nupi Lup on Wednesday categorically denied the presence of any UG group camp in Kadangband Village, Imphal West.

This clarification comes in response to claims made by the JAC formed against the killing of Th Ibomcha, alleging that the UG group involved in the killing was camping in Kadangband.

Speaking to the media in Imphal, secretary of the Lup Shanti Leima stated that the JAC’s claims are baseless and aimed at defaming the village.

She explained that during the recent Kuki aggressions in the area, volunteers from different places came to defend the village, but they left after the firing ceased.

She emphasised that there is no UG camp in Kadangband and that the villagers have been actively involved in opposing the government’s plan to nab village volunteers, organising rallies and other protests.

She expressed disappointment and concern over the JAC’s allegations, stating that it is unfortunate to defame a vulnerable zone like Kadangband, especially when Manipur is facing aggression from Kuki militants.

She appealed for unity and cooperation to address the ongoing crisis in the state, rather than spreading misinformation and fueling tensions.
