The newly formed Naoriya Kendra Apunba Lup has resolved not to extend support to demands formulated by valley-based groups which could invoke PR in Manipur.
The resolution was taken during the public convention held at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai, Imphal, on Sunday during which the lup was formed and all its representatives appointed.
A copy of the seven-point resolution was also submitted to the MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency, S Kebi.
Speaking to media on the side-line of the convention, convenor of the apunba lup Laishram Kulachandra stated that demanding the legislatures to resign at this crucial juncture could prove detrimental for the state’s administration.
“We should look into the merits and demerits of such demand. The protection of the state’s integrity will not be possible without the legislature,” he said.
He maintained that resignation of all the valley legislatures would cement PR imposition in Manipur.
“The suffering will double in such an administration. We should push for constructive demands which would aid in resolving the crisis in Manipur,” he said.
Other points in the resolution include coordination between various CSOs in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, the MLA cannot resign without informing and discussing with Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Apunba Lup, supporting the War on Drugs campaign and extending support to reasonable demands pushed by valley based CSOs.
