Veteran politician Okram Joy said that no political party will get an absolute majority in the upcoming state legislative assembly election next year.

He was addressing a one-day political convention held at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, Langthabal assembly constituency, Imphal West district on Sunday.

O Joy said people should always elect a candidate who has proper knowledge of the parliamentary system and can raise a relevant issue on the floor of the assembly irrespective of ruling or opposition.

“How can we expect development in an assembly constituency where the MLA does not have any idea of the parliamentary system,” said O Joy.

The veteran politician said Langthabal is one of the assembly constituencies in the state which gave birth to patriots, renowned writers, sportspersons among others.

As such, a flag cannot determine the fate of the candidate in the upcoming assembly election, he added.

Former candidate of Langthabal assembly constituency, Mutum Dinesh Singh announced to support, O Joy in the coming election.
