Vector borne disease control unit Tamenglong on Tuesday organised World Malaria Day at the conference hall of district hospital Duigailong Tamenglong under the theme, ‘Time to Deliver Zero Malaria: Innovate, Implement’.
Chief medical officer Tamenglong Dr G Majachunglu, medical superintendent district hospital Tamenglong Dr Guidiathiu Kamei, district leprosy officer Tamenglong Dr Felix Kamei, Dr Nathaniel Daimei, MO in charge PHC Tousem, DMO staffs, ASHAs, nurses, attended the programme.
On the occasion, chief medical officer Tamenglong who is also holding the portfolio of district malaria officer Tamenglong Dr G Majachunglu informed that with active participation of ASHAs, no new malaria case has been detected in Tamenglong district since 2021.
She said that ASHAs workers are working at the grassroots level. She thanked all the ASHA workers and urged them to continue working at the respective villages with sincerity and honesty.
In the meantime, the district health society Tamenglong on Tuesday launched the national deworming day at Don Bosco school Tamenglong.
Deputy commissioner Tamenglong Krishna Kumar launched the first round of deworming day in Tamenglong.
The district hospital Tamenglong also conducted an awareness programme cum free screening camp on cleft lip and palate under the Smile train Shija cleft project. The programme was organised by Smile Train Shija foundation and CMO Tamenglong and Shija hospital Imphal.
Consultant plastic and reconstructive Shija hospital surgeon Dr Michael L and DrNB plastic and reconstructive surgery Dr Naresh Kumar C spoke as resource persons. As many as 29 patients including cleft patients, palate and post burned patients attended the event.
