No donation by Meitei Leepun

The Meitei Leepun has clarified that it is not collecting any money from any public as a donation but that it is being supported by their well-wishers and friends who believe in their cause.

In a release on Thursday, the Meitei Leepun stated “Meitei Leepun is not collecting any money from public as donation. We are supported by our well-wishers and friends who believe in our cause.”

It further stated that it has recently come to their notice that “some people who are not related to the Meitei Leepun are collecting donations from shops and offices”.

“We would like to reiterate to the general public not to entertain any unknown person or individual who comes for collecting donations,” it said, adding that through “this press release we would like to warn the perpetrator not to collect money from the general public in our came”.

If any individual is caught doing such nefarious activity, he shall bear responsibility for the consequences, it warned.

They also alerted the general public that if any such person came to them for donation, they are to inform the matter to Meitei Leepun personnel or lodge a complaint to nearest police station. He shall be liable to face legal consequences, the organisation further warned.
