Unlike the Opposition alliance calling for repoll of first phase Lok Sabha elections in Manipur, the Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh on Saturday failed to forward any demand for repoll and instead strongly condemned the atrocities which unfurled in the first phase of elections in several polling stations.

It may be mentioned that except for the ruling BJP, political parties of the INDIA alliance had demanded repoll of 36 polling stations following reported cases of violence, proxy, physical assault, intimidation and many more.

Those involved in disrupting the electoral proceedings must be held accountable, she added.

She stated that the entire debacle which unfolded during the election was an alarming situation which needed proper attention.

She stated that BJP had lodged a formal complaint to the Election Commission of India regarding the reports of violence.
