No bribes demanded: PHD chief engineer

Public Works Department chief engineer Ningombam Subhash clarified that the allegation against PWD officials for demanding money to release the bill is baseless.

Work completion order for construction of COVID Care Centre at Loukoipat has been submitted to the government in July, 2022 and allegation against PWD officials for demanding money to release the bill is baseless, clarified Public Works Department chief engineer, Ningombam Subhash.

A sub-contractor engaged in construction of COVID Care Centre at Loukoipat, Bishnupur, alleged PWD officials for hindering the withdrawal bill for the work. The sub-contractor alleged PWD officials stating that his payment has not been released for not paying 10 per cent of the bill amount as bribe money.

The sub-contractor, identified as Nameirakpam Gouro, informed the media that the total bill amount for the project is Rs 1,82,34,329 and higher officials of the PWD department are demanding a percentage of the bill amount. The construction work of the covid care centre began in August, 2020 and the same was commissioned after completion on September 15.

According to the PWD chief engineer, the work order was in the name of A Dhanajit Singh and after work completion, the bill or work completion order was submitted to the government in July, 2022. There is no question of asking for bribe money.

He appealed to feel free and approach the department for any complaint, before accusing the department.
