The 23rd Foundation Day of National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) was celebrated on Wednesday at the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul in Imphal.
NIPCO president Oinam Premjit said that at this critical juncture of the state, the council prays for peace at the earliest.
NIPCO condemns the inaction of the Central and state government to control the attack by Chin-Kuki Narco Terrorists on villages at the periphery of the hills using bombs and sophisticated weapons, he added.
He also said NIPCO condemns in the highest term the statement of Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) and Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) calling for re-imposition of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) in the state.
The Narco-terrorists along with the militants which are in Suspension of Operations with the government continue to attack the Meitei civilians and it is very unfortunate, Premjit added.
Premjit then appealed to the India and state government to bring an amicable solution to the conflict at the earliest.
The programme was attended by Nongthombam Rupachandra, President UPF Manipur, Hijam Priyokumar, President CADA, KC Romio, President Mapi Council and Serto Kom, vice-president of a students' organisation as presidium members.
