Patsoi assembly constituency MLA S Kunjakeswor Singh alias Keba on Sunday warned that he will personally intervene in the construction work of the National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) if the construction is not stopped immediately.
It has been found that works are still being continued to construct NH- 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) as a two-lane highway despite getting approval to make it a four-lane highway, the MLA said.
The MLA along with a team of media inspected the ongoing construction work along National Highway-37 on Sunday. Works minister K Govindas along with the MLA had earlier instructed the construction workers to stop the construction of road and drainages on both sides of the highway during a visit that was conducted earlier. The construction work was found to be continuing during the inspection.

Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, MLA Keba told the media that despite the approval already given from the ministry to construct a four-lane highway, the construction company continues to forcibly work for construction of a two-lane highway.
He said the present width of the highway from main gate Oriental college to Keithelmanbi is 48 feet while the Central ministry had given the approval for four-lane road having a width of 80 feet.
The construction work should be ceased immediately until an amicable solution is reached between the state government and the Ministry concerned, he added.
“If necessary, I will personally intervene in the construction work in future for the welfare of the public if the ongoing construction continues,” said Keba.
He further said the stones used for the construction look like slates and they will be sent for laboratory testing to check their quality.
