The Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Kangpokpi on Sunday alleged that the newly posted health staffs at District Hospital Kangpokpi are yet to report for duty even after five days of their transfer and posting order issued by the Health department.

The total shutdown proposed by the CSOs over the shortage of staff nurses and other manpower at District Hospital Kangpokpi was called off after the Health department on July 26 issued a transfer and posting of a few MHS doctors and other medical staff. Among them, one doctor, two staff nurses, and two Grade-IVs are posted at District Hospital Kangpokpi apart from the Health department assuring to fulfil the remaining post after the assembly session.

However, representatives of CSOs Kangpokpi while visiting the district hospital Kangpokpi found that none of the newly posted health staff have assumed posts at their place of posting so far.

KSO Sadar Hills president Satminthang Kipgen said that although the government had ultimately issued the posting orders for a few health staff at District Hospital Kangpokpi, the health staff were found neglecting to join their duties again unfortunately.

He recalled that as per the Health department orders, medical officer Dr Bernard Potsangbam; staff nurse Mayanglambam Alliza Chanu and Kamang Gangmei Azenlu ; Grade-IVs Hatneikim Lhouvum and Loitongbam Bimola Devi are posted at District Hospital/CHC Kangpokpi.

He also said that owing to their posting and assurance of the government to fulfil the remaining posts as per the MGEL sanctioned posts after the assembly session, even the proposed agitation had been called off.

“If the newly posted health staff fail to report and join their duty as per the orders within two days, we will consider the order meaningless, and null and void, but an attempt to deceive the people,” he said.

He further said that the authority concerned must initiate a step for the newly posted health staff to report and join their duty at their new place of posting within two days, otherwise, the orders will be considered null and void, and more intense agitations will follow.

“We are also watching and waiting for the government as to whether they are committed to their own commitment in fulfilling the remaining posts as per the MGEL sanctioned posts after the assembly session,” he added.
