‘New settlers at Meitei Langol blocking agricultural land from cultivation’

The agricultural land of point 8,650 hectares of recorded pattadar of Lainingthou Pakhangba Thamgmeiband Lairemhanjaba Leikai have been possessing the land by cultivating the land from time to time over the last many years.

Iputhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Managing Committee, representing the recorded pattadar of Lainingthou Pakhangba Thangmeiband Lairemhanjaba Leikai, who is recorded pattadar of the agricultural land measuring 8,650 hectares village at Meitei Langol, Central Tehsil, Lamphel sub-division, Imphal West, have charged that the new settlers at Meitei Langol from far places have started blocking the way of the agricultural land on every side with their guilty mind of lying the land as useless.

Addressing the press at Manipur Press Club, secretary of Iputhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Managing Committee, Maibam Samananda said that the agricultural land of point 8,650 hectares of recorded pattadar of Lainingthou Pakhangba Thamgmeiband Lairemhanjaba Leikai have been possessing the land by cultivating the land from time to time over the last many years. Recently, the new settlers from far places have started blocking the way on every side, he said.

He said that the new settlers openly block the public way to reach the agricultural land and they have started fencing on all sides. The agricultural land owners asked them not to make obstruction but they still continued the obstruction by making fencing, he added.

Therefore, the agricultural land owners lodged a complaint to DC Imphal West, SP Imphal West and SDO Imphal West but no action has been taken up, he informed.

Hence, the managing committee urged the high authorities for removal of fencing and obstruction made in a public way for ingress and egress of agriculture.
