Nearly 30 lakh vaccinated with Covishield vaccine in Manipur

As per MoHHFW coverage report from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 29,35,591 doses were given with Covishield vaccine followed by 2,10,759 doses of Covaxin vaccine; 1,19,758 doses of Corbevax vaccine; 2,712 doses of Sputnik V vaccine and only 289 doses of Covovax vaccine.

A total of 32,69,452 vaccinations with five different vaccines were given to Manipur to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection, while 16,49,699 citizens received at least one dose of vaccine; 13,39,315 received full vaccination dose and 2,80,468 received booster dose.

Till January 29, 2024, as many as 15,24,177 persons who received the shots were male, 14,64,074 were female and 733 were registered under ‘others’ category as per MoHHFW coverage report from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The people were vaccinated with five different vaccines namely Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V, Corbevax and Covovax, it mentioned.

The report mentioned that 29,35,591 doses were given with Covishield vaccine followed by 2,10,759 doses of Covaxin vaccine; 1,19,758 doses of Corbevax vaccine; 2,712 doses of Sputnik V vaccine and only 289 doses of Covovax vaccine.

Among the total vaccinated people, 178 cases of adverse effects were recorded.

During the time of vaccination, it was advised that vaccination should be done to the person with 18 years of age and above for the first time, and age groups of 12-17 years of age were added later.

The report also stated that there are 26,54,382 eligible population and 62.15 per cent were partially vaccinated; 50.46 per cent were fully vaccinated and 10.57 per cent received booster doses.

As per an India Today news report, a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical industry company in a legal battle admitted that its Covid-19 vaccine, sold under brand names like Covishield, may in very rare cases cause severe side effects including blood clots.
