The total shutdown proposed to be imposed by the Konsakhul Area Joint Action Committee (KAJAC) along National Highway-37 has been suspended immediately following a meeting between its representatives and state government on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Letpao Haokip in presence of MLA H Dingo and deputy speaker K Robindro Singh and held at the office chamber of the minister.
It agreed to take a final decision on the rechristening of the name of the National Sports University as NSU, Konsakhul (Haraoching) as proposed by the KAJAC. It was resolved that the final decision will be taken after consulting all the stakeholders on December 11 in the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat.
Meanwhile, a release issued by general secretary Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang Joint Development Organisation (SKSCJDO) Nongthonbam Rajen Singh mentioned that Joint Tribe Student Association (JTSA) should not interfere on the land owner issue of National Sports University (NSU), the land and stated that the land where National Sports University (NSU) is constructed belongs to Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khunou and Koutruk.
The present BJP-led government should never come to a compromise concerning the land ownership and nomenclature of NSU. The state government may face unwanted consequences if the government compromises in connection with the land ownership and nomenclature of NSU. The state has a Rule of Law and the issue can be solved at Court, it added.
It further appealed that other than Konsakhul, Joint Tribe Student Association (JTSA) should not be involved in the issue.
