As many as 353 cases of the total 528 cases in the courts in Manipur were settled during the 4th National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 on Saturday at various places across the state. This year, the total number of settled cases and settlement amount has been significantly increased as compared to last year’s total settled cases of 914 cases with a total settled amount of Rs 8,31,16,469.
The 528 cases included both pre-litigation and pending court cases on bank recovery matters, BSNL bill matters, matrimonial cases, criminal compoundable cases, civil cases, Motor Accident Claims cases, NI Act cases, etc. The total settled amount of the National Lok Adalat is Rs 5,50,59,224 and the rate of settlement stood at 66.85 per cent.
This is the last National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 as per the National Legal Services Authority calendar. During this year, Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised four National Lok Adalat and one Special Lok Adalat in which a total number of 1,372 cases were settled and disposed of amicably with a total settled amount of Rs 15,06,31,587.
The National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority in association with Imphal East and Imphal West District Legal Services Authorities at the Lamphel Court Complex.
The National Lok Adalat was also held at Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong ahd Jiribam districts and in the High Court of Manipur.
The High Court Legal Services Committee also organized the National Lok Adalat at the High Court of Manipur complex in which one bench comprising of Registrar General Gaiphulshillu Golmei of High Court of Manipur as chairperson; M Manojkumar Singh, judge, Family Court and Y Rother, Registrar (judicial), High Court of Manipur attended as members.
For the National Lok Adalat at the High Court of Manipur, 12 cases were put up out of which seven including bank, insurance and matrimonial matters were successfully settled.
