Shree Shree Govindajee Nat Sankirtan, Palace Compound observed a two minutes silence on the demise of Padmashree guru Sougaijam Thanil at the Shree Shree Govindajee Nat Sankirtan Rehearsal Hall at Palace Compound on Tuesday.

A statement stated that Shree Shree Govindajee Nat Sankirtan president guru M Seityaban said that the late guru Sougaijam Thanil played an instrumental role in promoting the Manipuri Nat Sankirtan and the Manipuri culture in general.

He also recalled that the late guru Thanil also wrote several books on Manipuri culture for the future generation, it added.
