Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Monday assured to transform the villages under Naharup GP, Imphal East as model villages by adopting them in principle as ‘Adarsh Gram’ under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
Sanajaoba made the announcement during the launching programme of the GP as an ‘Adarsh Gram’ at Shrine of Integrity Park, Wakha Leima Ching in Imphal East. It was organised by the District Administration, Imphal East.
Unveiling of the SAGY stone plaque and plantation of saplings at the campus of the park marked the event.

The MP said Naharup GP has an element of the historical significance of Manipur and is an example of unity in diversity with the peaceful coexistence of different ethnic groups.
He pointed out that it is not only the infrastructures that are required for making model villages but the human resource and the idealness of the villagers that is going to make a full-fledged model village.
Ahead of the efforts taken up by the district administration and officials of various departments, it is the villagers who will be taking a pivotal role in the successful implementation of SAGY, he said.
Sanajaoba further apprised all the villagers to support and cooperate in the initiatives taken up by the officials in the implementation of various work programmes.
He said that all the grievances can be resolved through proper consultations. He called on all the concerned to utilise the government fund and schemes transparently and effectively.

MLA of Kshetrigao AC Sheikh Noorul Hassan in his speech explained that the main objective of SAGY is to achieve integrated development of rural region through convergent implementation of all relevant central and state sponsored schemes and through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.
With the adoption of the Naharup GP by the MP under SAGY, the villages under the GP will soon witness an inclusive and holistic development, he said, appealing to all the villagers to coordinate with the officials and show exemplary oneness.
As a part of the programme Thang-Ta demonstrations were conducted by students of Luwang Thang Ta Academy and Kabui Dance was performed by troops from Keikhu Kabui Khul.
The event witnessed the attendance of deputy commissioner of Imphal East Kh Diana and adhyaksha of Imphal East ZP P Bimola among others.
