District commando Imphal West on Thursday conducted a cordon and search operation in Kalibari area, Thangal Bazaar area covering Jalal crossing, Majorkhul, Anand Continental stretch from 3.40 pm to 4 pm.
During the search operation, around 175 individuals were detained and verified. Among the detainees five individuals were picked up and handed over to City Police Station for further verification and were released after verification.
Late Monday night an IED exploded at the residential gate of the assistant registrar of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Lamphel, Laikangbam Dorendro located at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, Imphal West.
In connection with the blast, the president of the local club mentioned that no organisations have claimed responsibility. The local body also urged the state government to find out the miscreants.
