Myanmar national arrested in Manipur

A Myanmar national of Chaungnatkyi village, Tamu Kayai was apprehended from Lalambung Pung Makhong, Imphal West.

A Myanmar national, with no valid documents, has been arrested in Imphal West district, Manipur by a team of Imphal East district commando.

The Myanmar national, identified as Zawhein (32), son of Zawmein of Chaungnatkyi village, Tamu Kayai, was apprehended from Lalambung Pung Makhong, near Imphal Hospital RIMS Road, Imphal West on Wednesday, the police said.

A police report stated that based on an input at around 11.20 pm the police team conducted random frisking and checking at Lalambung Pung Makhong, near Imphal Hospital RIMS Road, Imphal West.

During the activity Zawhein was detained. During verification he disclosed his identity and stated that he had been staying at Imphal for the last three-four months without holding any proper legal/valid documents. He was hired by one Thangsei, 50, from Moreh, Manipur.

On his guidance and advice, he has been staying at Imphal and looking after the sick Burmese people by providing medical treatment at Imphal Hospital, Imphal who were sent by the said Thangsei illegally without holding any proper/valid documents for entering India, for the last 3/4 months.

The police team seized one mobile phone and a sum of Rs 25,150 from his possession. The person along with the seized items have been handed over to Imphal police station for taking up further action.
