United Manipur Muslim Women’s Development Organisation on Sunday condemned the abhorrent act meted out to the two women who were paraded naked by a mob on May 4 and asserted that the incident has lowered the state’s prestige.

The organisation, in a release, urged those concerned to refrain from carrying out such barbaric acts in future and appealed to always protect the rights and dignity of women.

It also questioned the Prime Minister whether it was his motive to aggravate further violence between the two communities and accused the PM of his one-sided move. It expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged failure of the central government to take action to restore the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

It further appealed to all the people of the state to set aside all animosity and hatred and instead strive together to usher in peace and harmony in the state.
