Enraged over authorities’ failure to declare the written test results of MTS Education 2016 and 2018, the JAC of the candidates who completed the written exam staged a protest demonstration and locked the Directorate of Education (S) Lamphelpat on Monday.

The candidates condemned the non-responsive demeanour of the state authorities in declaring the results and raised various placards demanding authorities to halt all new recruitments in the department till the pending results are cleared and to declare the MTS 2016-2018 results swiftly.

The protestors cautioned that families of all the applicants would boycott the coming Lok Sabha election and commence intense agitations with the people if the state government failed to declare the results before February 10.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, JAC convenor S Ghambhir highlighted that the Department of Education (S) put out the call for the recruitment of 413 Multitasking staff back in 2018.

“But the results have been stalled for nearly seven years after the official procedures were completed. Such irrational conduct of the authorities is a serious violation of basic fundamental rights of the applicants,” he said.

He stated that the recruitment results of other departments which took place in the same year had all been cleared even amidst the government’s claim of poor financial health.

He questioned if the state authorities were planning to destroy the lives of the candidates who applied for the post and stated that such disregard for the candidates showcased a lack of empathy on the authorities’ side.

We were hopeful that the switch in governance would finally end our distress but instead it has only worsened, he added.

He pointed out that all democratic agitations taken out by the JAC in the past had failed to garner the state government’s attention while also condemning the education department’s disregard for the memorandums submitted by the JAC.

“While waiting for the results nearly 80 per cent of the candidates have crossed the age limit. Are they planning to announce new recruitments by discarding the older candidates?” he asked.

He further pointed out that the chief minister till now has rejected the JAC’s plea to meet and discuss the issue.

As such he demanded authorities concerned to address the matter swiftly and give the candidates their due justice.
