State BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy on Monday claimed that casting votes for Congress candidates will be useless as most of the elected Congress candidates would join the BJP before taking the oath of MLA.

He was speaking to the media during a press conference held at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Monday. He said people who are supporting the Congress party are indirectly supporting the BJP.

"Instead of supporting the BJP indirectly, I appealed to the people to support the BJP boldly and directly.

“Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken had earlier claimed that 25 INC candidates will be winning in the upcoming state legislative assembly election. Later, the number was reduced to 15. The decreasing numbers indicate that the Congress party has lost confidence.

"In the Centre during the then Congress government, only the family members of the fake Gandhi family were the Central leaders, and it was a dynastic rule, he said. They tried to extend similar forms of government in Manipur during the then state Congress government led by Okram Ibobi; however, the people rejected such forms of government in the state," said Bijoy.

Bijoy said the National People’s Party (NPP) has been claiming that no government will be formed in simple or absolute majority in the upcoming state assembly election.

"It is their right to make claims. The NPP will claim that they will win more than 20 candidates; however, the numbers assumed to win will decrease," he added.

The NPP party is playing a strategy to bring a ‘hung assembly’ and claiming that they will be ‘king maker’, he said, adding that a government in coalition with the NPP will never be a good government having smooth governance.
