Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Monday took a swipe at Union minister of State for External Affairs and Education RK Ranjan, alleging that his statement concerning the prevailing conflict in the state was vague.
The Manipur CPI alleged in a release that Rk Ranjan is ignorant of what the job requires. It asserted that the violence in Manipur is primarily caused by external aggression of Burmese or Myanmarese militants. It further accused the Union minister of remaining a mute spectator and “withholding necessary talks with the Myanmar Government even as violence continues to escalate in the state.”
The party also slammed the statement made by the Union Minister regarding the demand for ‘Separate Administration’ by the 10 Kuki MLAs of the state, including 2 Cabinet Ministers, which said that the MLAs are perhaps under tremendous pressure from various quarters, including the militants.
The Union Minister should come up with a concrete statement to explain the same, it demanded.
CPI further expressed desire to resolve the prevailing issue in an amicable manner and reaffirmed its stand to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state at all costs.
Meanwhile, a team of CPI Thoubal District Peace Committee also visited the relief camps opened at Thoubal and Kakching districts wherein they provided basic necessary items and also addressed the grievances of the affected victims at the camps, it added.
