A month-long programme of Clean India Campaign was inaugurated with a ‘Plogging Run and Cleanliness Drive’ at the campus of Manipur University at 7 am on Sunday.
A release by Manipur University stated that the ‘Plogging Run and Cleanliness Drive’ to be continued till October 31 was led by MU vice chancellor N Lokendra Singh. The plogging run and cleanliness drive commenced from the traffic island at the MU main gate and continued around the campus along the SBI Bank, health centre, international girls hostels, western side of staffs quarters, children park, boundary walls, Chandranadi river, canteen road, old social science block and the NSS Office, it added.
In the event, N Lokendra stated that the programme was conducted as part of the one month long ‘Clean India Campaign’ in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s love for a clean India, it continued.
It also informed that MU NSS Cell coordinator N Nodiyachand Singh in his introductory speech stated that apart from cleaning of plastics in and around the MU campus, the one month long program may also include the cleaning of all pending cases, files and processes in the authority offices including the office of the heads, deans and directors.
The event was participated by MU registrar W Chandbabu Singh, NSS Unit-I PO S Sunil Singh, NSS Unit-II PO M Macha Chaoreikanba, NSS Unit-III PO H Suraj Singh as well as the different heads, deans, directors, university engineering, security officer along with the research scholar students from boys’ and girls’ hostels of Manipur University, it added.
