The Manipur Peoples’ Democratic Front (MPDF) on Sunday called for active participation of all the 60 MLAs of the state to make their respective constituency a ‘model’ as it is the only key to a prosperous Manipur.
Although Manipur got statehood in 1972, it is unfortunate that the people cannot witness any significant development in the state till date, said MPDF secretary S Samungou while speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club in Imphal.
Giving of public speech by the people’s representative and making of some roads, shutting down of schools in the name of merging is not sufficient, he said, stressing the need of the people’s representative to act with sacrificial spirit for the development of their respective constituency.
He maintained that utilisation of the government projects, programme efficiently along with the MLA’s Local Area Development Fund is sufficient enough to make a model constituency within two years, if an MLA intends to do so.
Stating that making Manipur a model state will be the solution to every issue faced by civilians, he appealed to all the MLAs to head towards the mission of making the respective constituency model.
