MNYO emergency meeting

The meeting resolved that any Naga residing in Imphal and periphery areas are strictly prohibited to pay any ransom money, in case demands of any ransom made by any armed organisation/unknown miscreants and any intimidations perpetrated against any Naga individual or business establishment should be informed to the local Youth Club and MNYO Office, it asserted.

Acting on complaints from Nagas in the Imphal area of threats and intimidation by unknown armed miscreants, the Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) convened an emergency meeting on Sunday at Tarung Community Hall, Imphal with participation from Naga youth club leaders of Imphal Naga villages.

Attendees discussed issues concerning the reported threats, lootings, etc. upon the Nagas in Imphal and periphery areas, with focus on recent incidents which took place in three different places in Imphal area on Wednesday, stated a release.

MNYO president Athot Keitang and vice president Momo Tantanga chaired the meeting, it stated and said that meeting proceedings were recorded by MNYO general secretary Poudin Riamei.

The meeting resolved that any Naga residing in Imphal and periphery areas are strictly prohibited to pay any ransom money, in case demands of any ransom made by any armed organisation/unknown miscreants and any intimidations perpetrated against any Naga individual or business establishment should be informed to the local Youth Club and MNYO Office, it asserted.

It also resolved to form MNYO Imphal Branch under the aegis of MNYO for strengthening and functioning effectively, it mentioned. MNYO is strictly monitoring the situation of the Naga people residing in Imphal and periphery in connection with the present ethnic clash, it added.
