The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) on Tuesday condemned the desecration of Govajang Church allegedly by armed volunteers and asserted that the same is an act of sacrilege and profanity that directly offends the Christian community.

MNYO, in a release, said the incident at Govajang Church, widely disseminated through a viral video, showcases the destruction and mockery within the sacred premises, constituting a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of religious freedom and coexistence.

It further urged the concerned authorities to swiftly investigate the incident, hold those responsible accountable and implement concrete measures to prevent further acts of religious intolerance and violence.

The organisation also reiterated its commitment to promoting understanding, respect, and unity among the diverse communities in the state.
