The 13th Foundation Day of Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) was observed at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy on Thursday.
During the observance, MMWO officially changed its name to Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMPWO).
Speaking on the occasion, MMPWO president Korimayum Boboi highlighted that MMPWO was founded to uplift the socio-economic status of Meitei Pangals in Manipur.
“The organisation’s primary objective has been to upgrade the living standard of Meitei Pangals,” he said.
He stated that MMPWO had always stood for territorial integrity and unity of Manipur since its inception. We will continue to stand firmly to safeguard Manipur’s integrity, he added.
He stated that Meitei Pangals of Manipur would not remain mere spectators in the ongoing crisis and would ward off any infringements on the state’s unity. He also expressed disappointment over the central and state’s BJP government for failing to stop the violence.
Principal of Moirang College Md Raheijuddin Sheikh, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang, FOCS president Th Manihar, Social activist Leitanthem Angomcha Mainou, MPCM president Haji Aarafat Ali, MMWO advisor Md Hasimuddin Moinam, JCILPS Manipur convenor Phulildro Konsam and president of Universal Mothers Organisation Moirangthem Sarojini Leima were present at the observation.
