Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh president M Tombi on Wednesday said that each elected member should have a sacrificing spirit to save Manipur instead of waiting for an opportunity to grab power.
He was speaking at the Iftar ceremony that was carried out at Masjid located at Babupara, Imphal West.
“We have heard that some MLAs are camping in Delhi to get political power. I urge the elected representatives to consider the welfare of the public instead of being power hungry,” he said.
When Chief Minister N Biren Singh urged to stop mass deforestation and poppy plantation, he meant to safeguard the society from abnormal heat during summer, he said. Due to the impact of mass deforestation for mass poppy cultivation, the temperature in the state has been rising dramatically and has reached up to nearly 40 degree Celsius, he added.
Tombi appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with the government to root out drugs and poppy plantations.
He wished the Muslim communities to bring peace and harmony during the Iftar celebration.
